Mission statement

The need for organic supply chains increases as  consumption grows.

DID-IT wants to stimulate the organic supply by the kickstart, support and finance of projects to grow and produce with diversity for more quality organic agricultural products.

Current Projects

Project

Jersey Steers

Jersey steers are usually slaughtered 2 weeks after birth and used as non-organic dog feed as they are too small for conventional calf fattening. At DID-IT, organic Jersey steers are kept and fed with organic milk and hay and a specific herb mixture in an open stable with a lot of straw.
After three months they are fed organic roughage and go into the pasture. No antibiotics are used. They are castrated for safety reasons. After 20 – 24 months they will provide very tender and tasty organic meat of high quality and value.

Project

Symfonio

The SYMFONIO project supplies organic fonio from Burkina Faso and the Sahel region. The aim of SYMFONIO is, to provide farmers with enough yield for their own use and a surplus for export, through the production of nutritious crops.
The cultivation of fonio counteracts desertification and erosion and can even make desert soil fertile again.

Project

Lucky Bird

Geluksvogel (Lucky Bird) is a poultry farm concept in which the hens and roosters are kept  in movable carts, so-called chicken coops on wheels. The chicken cart is moved to a fresh piece of grass at least once a week so that soil life remains in optimal condition. The hens and roosters  are held on organic fields and fed with organic grass, herbs and feed. The cart is equipped with solar panels. The organic eggs are packed in recyclable cartons and sold in organic food shops. This is a complete natural egg-to-egg cycle.

BIO-VEE

BIOVEE has been founded by organic farmers for organic farmers and is committed to organic breeding with organic livestock. Organic breeding is the selection and propagation of animals (organic cows, pigs, chickens and goats) in and for organic farming, with respect for animal welfare and animal integrity. Male animals deserve a life as well. Selected organic bulls are used for organic A.I.  and as organic studs. A special organic chicken race is bred, to provide organic eggs and meat.

Project

Noorderlicht

Noorderlicht is a space in which organic experiments are made possible. There is a so-called Mancave where roosters are kept until they reach adulthood. A food forest is planned, and a flower  meadow where the roosters  and  hens can hide, as well as a natural plant wall, an organic vegetable garden and other experiments involving  youngsters, because they are the next generation to keep our planet healthy.

About us

CEO

Poppe Braam

Born and raised in Friesland, Poppe was already involved with organic farming and food during his student time in Groningen the Netherlands, and the first to start a certified organic chicken company.

At the same time he turned his eye to the world beyond and came into contact with international organic companies. After the required experience he started DO-IT, an international trading company in organic raw materials and consumer products based in Barneveld. The company is now one of the largest organic companies in the Netherlands. After more than 30 years of dedicated managing DO-IT, Poppe passed the baton at the end of 2020 to 2 entrepreneurs with a passion for organic agriculture and food.

Sitting still is not Poppe and now his work is continuing on the many challenges and questions posed to the sector of organic agriculture and food. DID-IT B.V. is the base for the resulting activities. Poppe and his team will be able to keep contributing towards the important transition of a sustainable, organic agriculture and food sector in the Netherlands and other countries. The European Green Deal also poses major challenges for the production and marketing of organic food.
